This Miraculous Military Victory Proves The Undeniable Power Of The Rosary

October is a month dedicated to the Holy Rosary because it commemorates a miraculous military victory that Saint Pius V attributed to Our Lady of the Rosary. The Battle of Lepanto in 1571 took place in western Greece and some historians believe that our world today would look much different had the “Holy League” not come out victorious over the Muslim Turks.

Pope St. Pius V asked all of Europe to rally together by praying the Holy Rosary and begging Mary to intercede for a victory in what appeared to be a hopeless battle. Though the Christians were significantly outnumbered, they miraculously managed to defeat the Turks and save Europe. This battle prevented the Ottoman Empire from controlling the Mediterranean.

All of the glory was given to Our Lady of Victory and attributed to the thousands of people who had joined together in praying the Holy Rosary. St. Pius immediately established a day to commemorate and honor Mary. This later became known as The Feast of the Holy Rosary, which is on October 7th, and eventually led to an entire month of devotion to Our Lady and the Rosary.

The Salve Regina, also known as the Hail Holy Queen, is a powerful prayer to Our Lady as the Queen of Heaven and of all Christians. This prayer serves as the final prayer of the Holy Rosary, and is indespensible for the help of Christians. Emploring her mercy, this prayer pleads with Mary to show us her Son, Jesus Christ, upon our death.

So that you may seek Our Lady's intercession, we are offering a FREE Salve Regina Prayer Card with a beautiful image of Mary on the front, and the text of the prayer on the back. Whether you already pray the Salve Regina frequently or if you have never prayed it before, this prayer card can serve as an inspiring reminder of the intercessory power of the Queen of Heaven!
